Professor of Demography at the Higher Institute of Population Sciences (ISSP) at the Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He has been Deputy-director (2010-2012), and Director (2012-2018) of ISSP. Prof. Kobiané is an Associate Researcher at the UMR-CEPED (Center on Population and Development, France). He is also an Associate Professor at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval (Québec, Canada), and an elected member of the 2018-2021 Council of the International Union for the Scientific Study of the Population (IUSSP). He has been an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow (2003-2006), and Associate Professor (2008-2020) at the Department of Demography, Université de Montréal (Canada), Vice-president (2008-2011), and President (2012-2015) of the Union for African Population Study (UAPS). His research interests include childhood, adolescence, youth transition to adulthood, poverty, inequalities, gender, and the evaluation of public policies.
