Jean-François Guégan is the exceptional-grade research director at the IRD, and is currently hosted by the INRAE in Montpellier.
For the past thirty years, he has specialized in the connection between the environment, human health and animal health and spearheaded the concept of health ecology, a field of research that takes a comprehensive and integrative approach to human infectiology. He is currently conducting research on the Buruli Ulcer in Africa and South America.
He is an expert at the World Health Organization, a member of the French National Committee on Global Changes (CNFCG), a former member of the French Public Health Council (HCSP) and a scientific advisor for the French Foundation for Biodiversity Research (FRB).
Jean-François Guégan is also President of the Scientific Council at the National Veterinary School in Toulouse and a member of the International Scientific Council for the French Public Health Agency (Santé publique France).
