Biography

Jean-Baptiste leads BSR’s consulting and collaboration efforts on human rights in EMEA, including Building Responsibly—BSR’s global initiative to help promoting the rights and welfare of workers in the engineering and construction industry.

He also supports companies from a wide range of sectors to conduct human rights impact assessments, develop policies and strategies, deploy training, and engage stakeholders and rights-holders meaningfully.

Previously, Jean-Baptiste was a staff consultant for Ergon Associates, a U.K.-based labor issues consultancy, where he focused on helping multistakeholder initiatives develop and implement their codes of practice and improve their assurance mechanisms. He also worked for the International Labor Organization in Dakar, investigating child labor issues in Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Jean-Baptiste holds an M.A. in CSR Management from Paris XII University, an LL.M. in Employment Law from Pantheon-Sorbonne University, and an LL.M. in Labor Law and Industrial Relations from London School of Economics and Political Science.

Business & Human Rights: Act collectively on Supply Chains

While hundreds of multinational companies have already publicly committed to implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (Guiding Principles) some have also taken significant steps over the last five years to implement the Principles and conduct Human Rights due diligence. There is no such thing as an ‘island of excellence’ when it comes to managing human rights in complex global supply chains. Collaboration with other actors including civil society representatives and governments is essential to making meaningful and sustainable progress.
