Sarah Marniesse graduated from ENSAE and holds a PhD in Development Economics. Following post-doctoral studies at the University of Michigan, she joined AFD in 1999, where she held various positions in the Research Department and Operations Department. In 2012, she was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and joined the Directorate-General of Global Affairs as an officer at Senior Management, and was subsequently Deputy Director at the Sub-directorate for Development Policies. In 2014, she joined the office of Annick Girardin, Secretary of State for Development and Francophonie, where she was responsible for supervising Official Development Aid operators and monitoring research for development, innovation and relations with companies. In 2016, she joined the Research Institute for Development (IRD) as Director for the Mobilization of Research and Innovation and is a member of the IRD Executive Committee. In July 2018, she comes back to the AFD, as head of the Development Campus.
