Since November 2018, Mr. Nicolas Bobrinsky has been Head of the Ground Systems Engineering and Innovation Department at ESA’s Space Operations Center. It covers essential sectors for the operations of missions, such as Flight Dynamics, Navigation, Data Systems for missions, as well as ground stations for space communications. He is also responsible for promoting and developing innovative approaches in the fields of optical communications, laser systems, automation, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Nicolas Bobrinsky joined ESA in 1987, at ESA’s Space Operations Center (ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany). He has held engineering and management positions for a number of Space Missions (outer space and low orbits) and for ESA’s network of satellite tracking stations (ESTRACK). In 2008, he also launched the SSA and Space Safety Programme and managed it until November 2018.
Nicolas Bobrinsky graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (Supaéro 1982, France).
