Magali Chelpi-den Hamer is a researcher at IRIS (Institut des relations internationales et stratégiques), specialized in international aid issues, education in crisis situations and armed conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has extensively published in French and English and is a member of the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal Anthropologie et développement. Before her current appointment, she worked for several years for NGOs, as a program coordinator, then as a consultant, in parallel with her research work. She holds a PhD in social anthropology from the EHESS, which was granted with the highest honors, and a PhD in social sciences from the University of Amsterdam. She has been part of the Institut des mondes africains (IMAF) since 2012.
