Jean Weissenbach is a biologist and geneticist who received in 2008 the CNRS Gold medal. A pioneer in the exploration of genomes, in particular the human genome, he was the director of the metabolic genomics research unit (CNRS / Université Evry-Val-d’Essonne / CEA) and of the Génoscope from 1997 to 2015.
For about twenty years, he has been interested in bio-degradation, the search for microorganisms in the environment and their role in pollution control. In 2019, he published « Depollute the planet » (Broché).
