

The “Ecological Transition and Natural resources” Department of AFD addresses Water, Sanitation and Integrated Water Resources Management aswell as issues related to the Control of Flood, Agriculture, Rural Development and Biodiversity. Jean-Luc François joined AFD in 2009. Previously, within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as Deputy Director of Food Security in the Direction of Global Public Goods (2009) and Deputy Assistant Director of the Millennium Development Goals (2005-2009). From 1981 to 2005, he worked as part of development aid from France. In Thailand, Mauritania, Congo and Côte d’Ivoire, he was seconded national authorities as technical expert. Then in Ethiopia and Madagascar, he was responsible for cooperation programs in agriculture and natural resources within the Embassies of France. Jean-Luc François is a veterinary surgeon, official of the Ministry of Agriculture.
