Jacques Loyat, agricultural economist and Honorary General Engineer of Agricultural Engineering of Water and Forest (IGGREF), has had a professional career as an expert advisor to government agencies on rural and agricultural development and public policy, including the CAP. As a former researcher at CIRAD, he initiated the Observatoire des Agricultures du Monde project, currently led by the FAO initiative WAW (World Agriculture Watch).
He is a member of various NGOs, serving as a director of AVSF, a member of SFER and AGTER, and a member of the ATTAC agricultural policy commission and, as such, is involved in the Platform “Pour une Autre PAC” (for Another CAP).
He has also authored several publications on the CAP and public policies. His most recent book, on advocacy for active agricultural policies (co-authored with Thierry Pouch), is entitled “Plaidoyer pour des politiques agricoles actives” Éditions France Agricole, 2018.
