Hélène Delisle is now professor emeritus at University of Montreal after serving as professor of international nutrition for 30 years in the Department of Nutrition of the Faculty of Medicine. She has conducted research on malnutrition and food insecurity in various population groups including in several countries of sub-Saharan Africa. Her latest research pertained to the nutrition transition in urban populations of West Africa and Haiti. She initiated a research team named TRANSNUT (for nutrition transition) at the Department of Nutrition which became a WHO Collaborating Centre on nutrition changes and development in 2003. She has also headed an ambitious Canada-funded university partnership project on the double burden of malnutrition with Benin, Burkina Faso and Mali until her retirement in 2014. She pursues her academic involvement in capacity building in nutrition for Africa, in scientific publishing and in consultancy work.
