Gwenaël Vourc’h is director of research at the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) in Clermont-Ferrand.
She is unit deputy head of the Mixed Research Unit for the epidemiology of animal and zoonotic diseases. After studying veterinary science and completing a thesis in ecology, she specialized in the ecology of infectious and zoonotic diseases. She focuses specifically on Lyme disease transmission risks in connection with the environment and she also conducted a study on the emergence of the Chikungunya virus on Réunion Island. She also develops approaches for supporting the ecological transition of livestock farming with various health aspects.
