Biologist and botanist, Francis Hallé was professor of botany at the University of Montpellier from 1971 to 1999. At the origin of the Raft des Cimes, he carried out extensive research on tropical forest canopies. Since 2019, he is the founder of the Francis Hallé Association for primary forests.
