Eduardo S. Brondizio is a Professor in the Anthropology Department of Indiana University Bloomington; Director of the Center for the Analysis of Social-Ecological Landscapes (CASEL), and Member of the Advisory Board of the Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis, founded in 1973 by Vincent and Elinor Ostrom.
His research focuses on the comparative analysis of rural populations in South America (Amazonia) and in particular their interactions with government development programmes, global resource channels, urban areas and environmental changes. He is the co-chair of the “Global assessment on biodiversity and ecosystem services” deliverable (2016-2019) of the Inter-governmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
