Cecilia Poggi is an economist at AFD in charge of research programs on social protection and employment. Her current projects deal with the analysis of social protection systems, the study of workers vulnerabilities, the promotion and the reinforcement of regulations to promote decent employment. Cecilia is also actively researching on the role of the informal economy, on digital platforms as well as on gender inequality in emerging and developing countries.
Cecilia holds a PhD in Economics and a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Economics from the University of Sussex (UK). Before joining AFD in 2018, she worked as a consultant for research institutes, the World Bank and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization on issues related to employment, migration, poverty, and data collection tools for household and firm-level surveys.
