This former journalist and winner of the Albert Londres Prize was born in 1945. He is the author of a number of reports and publications on foreign policy. He became involved in politics in the Socialist Party (PS) and has been a councilor for the Center Region (1988) and MP for Eure-et-Loir (1988-93). Bertrand Gallet was technical advisor on studies, forward studies and international issues at the office of Ségolène Royal, Minister of Education (1997-98), and since 1998 has been Managing Director of Cités Unies France (CUF). This federation of French United Local Governments founded in 1975 is a network of some 400 local authorities from all political parties which are active in international cooperation. He is also President of the French international solidarity NGO Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED). The Convergences Forum is one of its subsidiaries.
