Alix Françoise has been Task team leader in AFD Urban division since 2014, managing projects in Asia and Africa. She is also lead specialist for climate and cities and works on urban food supply issues. Previously, she worked for AFD in Tunisia on rural development and environmental operations.   After graduation (HEC Management school and master in political science), and over the last 19 years, she has been working in the development sector, specializing in environment and governance expertise.

Africa: COVID-19 Exposes the Vulnerability of Urban Food Systems

As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of people living in food insecurity in East Africa could increase from 14 million to 23 million. In addition to emergency measures, this crisis has highlighted the need to improve the resilience of food systems, especially in the worst-affected towns and cities in Africa.
